Novant Health South Charlotte Endocrinology is seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our growing team. In this role, you will partner closely with providers and the healthcare team to deliver safe, high-quality, and cost-effective care while creating an exceptional experience for every patient.
The Certified Medical Assistant coordinates and assists providers to ensure safe, quality, and cost-effective care for patients within the practice population. This position supports efficient clinical operations while delivering outstanding customer service and compassionate care throughout the patient visit.
What We're Looking For:
Education: High School Diploma or GED, required.
Candidates will provide proof of current certification from one of the approved certifying registries including: • CMA with the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) • CCMA with the National Health Career Association (NHA) • RMA with the American Medical Technologists (AMT) • American Registry of Medical Assistants (NHCWA) • National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) • National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP) • American Allied Health (AAH) RMA with the American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA). If a candidate is not currently certified, they must obtain certification or registration by the end of the sixth month of their hire and sign an education agreement, required.
Experience: Previous work in a medical office, preferred.
Licensure/Certification: Current certification, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire as CMA, RMA or CCMA, required.
Current State Drivers License (Palliative Care Only), required.
Additional Skills (required): Ability to successfully complete generic and department specific skills validation and competency testing.
What You'll Do:
Prepare patients for examinations by obtaining vital signs, medical histories, and documenting information accurately in the electronic medical record.
Assist providers during examinations and office procedures.
Perform clinical tasks within scope of practice, including medication administration, injections, specimen collection, EKGs, and point-of-care testing as appropriate.
Coordinate patient flow to promote timely and efficient care.
Educate patients on medications, treatment plans, and follow-up instructions as directed by the provider.
Schedule diagnostic testing, referrals, and follow-up appointments.
