    JOB SUMMARY

    The Certified Medical Assistant with CST is a multi-skilled healthcare professional who works collaboratively with physicians and clinical staff to provide high-quality patient care. CMAs and CSTs perform both administrative and clinical duties to support efficient, cost-effective care, optimize patient outcomes, and improve overall quality of life.


      

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Assist patients by providing information, services, and support.
    • Maintain medical supply inventory and ensure proper maintenance of medical equipment.
    • Verify patient information, record medical history, and confirm reason for visit.
    • Prepare patients for examinations by taking vital signs, weight, and preliminary tests, report findings to provider.
    • Support office procedures to save physician time and improve workflow.
    • Protect patient confidentiality by securing records, completing diagnostic and procedure coding accurately.
    • Counsel patients by communicating physician orders and instructions regarding procedures or surgeries.
    • Schedule surgeries by coordinating with surgical centers, confirming patient times, and preparing charts and consent forms.
    • Maintain a safe, compliant, and healthy work environment in accordance with standards and regulations.
    • Keep supplies ready by completing inventory, ordering, and verifying receipt of stock.
    • Ensure proper operation of equipment by following instructions, performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting issues, and arranging repairs as needed.
    • Stay current with professional knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading professional publications.
    • Adhere to professional standards, clinic policies, and federal, state, and local requirements.
    • Support practice growth and reputation by taking ownership of new responsibilities and exploring opportunities to improve services.
    • Perform clinical duties within scope—including tasks designated for CMA, RMA, CST, LPN, or RN roles as applicable—as well as other clinical functions delegated and supervised by the physician.
    • Clean, sanitize and sterilize surgical instruments
    • Assist with all in-office procedures.

    Requirements:

      

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assisting program or Certified Surgical Technician program
    • Current Medical Assisting Certification with no restrictions or current Certified Surgical Technician Certification
    • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
    • Knowledge of infection control, sterile technique, and clinic-based health and safety precautions
    • Ability to use and apply medical terminology accurately
    • Understanding of general clinical principles, methodologies, and outcome measures
    • Strong communication skills with patients and external parties in a courteous and professional manner
