Certified Medical Coder
Location: Tulsa, OK
Schedule: Monday-Friday | Full-Time | Day Shift
Pay: $20.00-$27.00/hour (DOE)
Position Overview
A well-established and respected gastroenterology practice in Tulsa is seeking an experienced Certified Medical Coder to join its growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented coding professional who enjoys working in a collaborative medical office environment. Candidates with gastroenterology coding experience are highly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assign accurate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes for physician services and procedures
- Review provider documentation to ensure accurate and compliant code selection
- Maintain compliance with payer regulations, Medicare guidelines, and coding standards
- Identify and resolve coding discrepancies prior to claim submission
- Work closely with providers and billing staff to ensure clean claims and timely reimbursement
- Stay current on coding updates, payer requirements, and industry regulations
- Assist with coding audits and documentation improvement initiatives as needed
- Maintain patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance
Qualifications
- Current Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or equivalent coding certification required
- Previous medical coding experience required
- Gastroenterology coding experience strongly preferred
- Thorough knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding
- Understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and insurance guidelines
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the medical office team
