Certified Medical Coder

Location: Tulsa, OK
Schedule: Monday-Friday | Full-Time | Day Shift
Pay: $20.00-$27.00/hour (DOE)

Position Overview

A well-established and respected gastroenterology practice in Tulsa is seeking an experienced Certified Medical Coder to join its growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented coding professional who enjoys working in a collaborative medical office environment. Candidates with gastroenterology coding experience are highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assign accurate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes for physician services and procedures
• Review provider documentation to ensure accurate and compliant code selection
• Maintain compliance with payer regulations, Medicare guidelines, and coding standards
• Identify and resolve coding discrepancies prior to claim submission
• Work closely with providers and billing staff to ensure clean claims and timely reimbursement
• Stay current on coding updates, payer requirements, and industry regulations
• Assist with coding audits and documentation improvement initiatives as needed
• Maintain patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance

Qualifications

• Current Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or equivalent coding certification required
• Previous medical coding experience required
• Gastroenterology coding experience strongly preferred
• Thorough knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding
• Understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and insurance guidelines
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
• Excellent communication and organizational abilities
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the medical office team
