Kelley, Jr., Administrator Summary: The Certified Medication Aide assists in the administering of medications to residents as ordered by the attending physician, under the direction of the attending physician, the nurse supervisor or charge nurse, and the Director of Nursing Services. The administration of medications shall be in accordance with established nursing standards, the policies, procedures, and practices of this facility, and the requirements of this state. The health and wellbeing of our staff members and residents is our number one priority. Our community is following the CDC guidelines related to respiratory infections. Our infectious disease protocols include but are not limited to: Screening staff members at the beginning of each shift. Staff members have access to, and use, PPE including gloves, face masks, face shields, and gowns, as needed. Our community is utilizing telemedicine as much as possible. We are committed to transparency and will make all staff, residents, and families aware of CDC changes that affect the adult care home. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Other duties may be assigned. 1\. Comply with the Facilitys personnel, safety, and corporate policies and procedures. 2\. Comply with the nursing departments policies and procedures. 3\. Report witnessed or reported allegations of resident abuse/neglect immediately to the Administrator/DON or Nurse Manager on Call. 4\. Treat residents, family members, visitors, and team members with respect and dignity. 5\. Maintain the confidentiality of all resident and family information. 6\. Report to work on time and as scheduled. 7\. Report any complaints/grievances made by residents to the Director of Nursing Services or per policy. 8\. Participate and cooperate with any facility surveys (inspections) made by authorized government agencies as requested by the Administrator or Director of Nursing Services. 9\. Maintain a clean and organized medication cart and medication room. 10\. Always protect resident privacy when administering medication, knock before entering the residents room. 11\. Accurately and safely prepare, administer, and document the oral and/or topical medications that are commonly used in this adult care home that may be ordered for resident use by the attending physician or the Medical Director. 12\. Document and report errors in the administration of medications immediately upon discovery. 13\. Ensure that all medications administered are properly labeled and follow facility policy on storage, labeling and dating of medications. 14\. Complete medication charting per facility policy and procedure. 15\. Assist with following facility policies and procedures regarding the destroying of medications. 16\. Assist in documenting and removing medications that are discontinued by the attending physician. 17\. Follow facility procedures governing drug receipt errors, including notifying the delivery source and the Director of Nursing Services. 18\. Follow the adult care homes procedures allowing residents to self-administer their medications. 19\. Assist the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse in monitoring and documenting all aspects of such self-administering. 20\. Notify nurse when medication refills are needed. 21\. Be familiar with the meaning and usage of common medical abbreviations, symbols, and terms related to the administration of medications as used by the adult care home pharmacists, and physicians. 22\. Takes vital signs or observes resident to detect response to specified types of medications and prepares report or notifies designated personnel of unexpected reactions. 23\. Documents reasons prescribed drugs are not administered. 24\. Gives direct resident care such as bathing, dressing, and feeding patients, and assisting in examinations and treatments. 25\. Safeguards the privacy of Residents health information: a\. Uses and discloses protected health information only as authorized; b\. Conducts oral discussions of personal health information with other staff or with Residents and family members in a manner that limits the possibility of inadvertent disclosures; c\. Reports suspected violations of a business associates contractual obligations to safeguard protected health information; and 26\.
