Job Summary:
Oneida Health is currently seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to care for residents at our Rehabilitation and Extended Care Facility in Oneida, NY. The ideal candidate will provide residents with a high level of care, working both independently and collaboratively with a team. Key responsibilities include assisting residents with daily activities, maintaining a clean environment, and communicating effectively with supervisors and registered nurses.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide high-quality care to residents, assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, and eating.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals and support staff to ensure residents' needs are met.
  • Demonstrate excellnt interpersonal skills, including empathy, patience, and compassion, when interacting with residents and their families.
  • Maintain accurate records of residents' health status and care provided, paying keen attention to detail.
  • Create and maintain a clean and healthy environment for residents by adhering to infection control protocols and sanitation standards.
  • Recognize signs and symptoms of illness in residents and promptly report them to supervisors.
  • Report instances of abuse, mistreatment, or neglect to appropriate authorities in accordance with facility policies and procedures.
  • Show compassion and dignity when caring for dying residents, ensuring their comfort and attending to their personal needs.
  • Communicate effectively with registered nurses, conveying any concerns or changes in residents' conditions.
  • Other job related duties as assigned by the management.
Qualifications:
Education:
  • Completion of a Nurses Aide Training Program OR
  • Graduation from an Accredited RN or LPN Program
License/Certifications:
  • New York Certified Nursing Assistant (Required)
  • BLS Certification (Preferred)
Experience:
  • Caregiving: 2 years
Required Skills and Abilities:
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including empathy, patience, and compassion.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Compassion for residents, especially those in vulnerable situations.
  • Ability to recognize and respond to signs of distress or illness in residents.
  • Commitment to maintaining resident confidentiality and privacy.
  • Willingness to adhere to ethical standards and report any concerns promptly.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and move residents with assistance.
  • Stamina and endurance to work long shifts and perform physical tasks.
  • Manual dexterity for assisting residents with ADLs and performing other duties.
