The CNA functions as an integral part of the nursing care team under the supervision of an RN and/or LPN. This position provides basic care assisting patients with the activities of daily living.

The CNA performs routine data collection regarding the patients condition, maintains safe, clean therapeutic patient atmosphere and performs other designated unit support activities including a variety of clerical duties relating to the updating and organizing of information in nursing. This position functions as a focal communication source and coordinates work within the nursing staff as well as with other departments within the hospital or clinic setting.

Day and night shift available.

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Responsibilities & Duties

• Greets visitors, in person and over the phone; answering inquiries; relaying calls to patients; giving directions; referring appropriate inquiries to nursing and medical staff. • Helps patients by responding to intercom requests and coordinating patient care with RNs, LPNs, Providers, and other hospital personnel. • Completes necessary forms, requisitions, and communication to help implement provider orders. • Serves as an informational resource by answering questions and requests. • Assures consistent unit phone coverage when off unit. • Maintains unit operation by following policy and procedures and reporting necessary changes in protocol. • Helps with unit forms and supply inventory, restocking, and verifying receipt of supplies. • Maintains patient confidentiality and protects hospital operations by keeping information confidential. • Ensures unit equipment is operational by following manufacturers instructions and established procedures; processes work orders for repairs. • Conserves unit resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results. • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations; adhering to infection control policies and protocols. • Admits patients into computer system correctly and completely.

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Qualifications & Skills

• Current Idaho CNA licensure/Certification • High school diploma or equivalency • Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing • Good interpersonal skills in dealing with patients, families, and all health care professionals and TVH staff • Basic knowledge in computer use; including word processing and spreadsheet applications • Excellent organizational skills • Ability to maintain and follow guidelines, set standards of practice in quality patient care, and state, federal, and facility required infection control practices
