Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) – ED

Location: Syracuse, NY
Shift: Days & Nights
Weekend Requirement: Every Other Weekend Required
Travel Pay Package: Up to $1,400–$1,485/week

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to provide direct and indirect patient care across the Emergency Department, Medical/Surgical units, and Pediatric Float Pool.

The ideal candidate will be patient-focused, dependable, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment while collaborating with nurses, providers, and other members of the multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Obtain, measure, and accurately document patient vital signs.
  • Assist patients with bathing, toileting, feeding, mobility, and other activities of daily living.
  • Provide direct and indirect nursing care according to patient assignments and established care plans.
  • Serve as a safety companion for patients identified as requiring additional observation.
  • Observe patients and communicate needs, concerns, and changes in condition to the appropriate healthcare team members.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and patient-focused environment.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives and patient care programs.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of normal growth and development, particularly when caring for pediatric patients.
  • Work collaboratively with nurses, physicians/providers, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Follow applicable patient safety, infection-control, and departmental standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Current New York State CNA Certification.
  • Current BLS Certification – Required.
  • Minimum 1 year of patient care experience.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Successful completion of required pre-employment health clearance.
  • Must have legal authorization to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous acute-care experience preferred.
  • Experience in Emergency Department, Medical/Surgical, or pediatric settings preferred.
  • Experience providing safety-companion/observation support preferred.
  • Pediatric patient-care experience is a plus.
