Certified Nursing Assistant

A certified nursing assistant renders direct patient care including activities of daily living,

maintaining safety and assessing client changes.

Requirements:

1. High school diploma or GED must be kept in personnel file (Medicaid only)

2. Certification from an accredited Nursing Assistant Training course

Personal qualification:

• Be capable of working well with others and under the direction of supervisors and

superiors Able to follow directions and instructions intelligently and accurately without

reluctance

• Honest and Loyal to client

• Cooperative and flexible with client needs

• Trustworthy

• Prompt and dependable

• Courteous and Polite

• Maintain an acceptable degree of respect and obedience for supervisors and superior

• Be professional always, even when someone else is behaving inappropriately

• Be Prompt and dependable in reporting to duty and in performing assigned duties

• Neat in appearance

Duties:

• Encourage clients to be active, to participate in recreational therapy activities of daily living

• Foster self-respect and self-esteem in clients

• Assist with personal care and feeding as needed

• Keep environment safe for individuals and other workers

• Observe clients carefully and report changes in conditions or other important information to the

Medicaid Staffing Supervisor

• Follow established rules and regulations outlined in General Orientation and Employee

Handbook of Embassy Home Care

• Complete all necessary paperwork during a shift

• Provide personal hygiene when necessary:

o Mouth hygiene - after every meal when necessary

o Provide Bath daily, as needed or requested

o Assist with clothing

o Observe and report the presence of any reddened skin areas or breakdown and report to the

Medicaid Staffing Supervisor.

The CNA is responsible for the client's immediate environment:

o Make bed daily

o Tidy bedside stand, remove all unnecessary articles

o Keep a person's clothing put away

o See that soiled clothing is laundered

o Be observant of proper ventilation, temperature, and noise control

o Keep a person’s environment neat, safe, and clean
