Certified Nursing Assistant

We are seeking Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) for both day and night shifts. Please indicate your preference for day or night shifts, or if you are open to both. Candidates must be available to work weekends. The position involves block booking, and adherence to the schedule is required. The work schedule alternates between 36 hours one week and 48 hours the following week.

Responsibilities

• Assist Veterans/Members with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as transfers, ambulation, eating, bathing, dressing, toileting, and personal hygiene.
• Follow instructions to use simple procedures and devices to strengthen Veterans'/Members' limbs and maintain flexibility.
• Assist nursing staff with simple medical procedures including suppositories, enemas, treatments, post-surgical care, and post-mortem care.
• Monitor physical and mental status of Veterans/Members by using appropriate medical equipment to take vital signs, obtain samples, and track input/output.
• Document medical records and worksheets for all assigned Veterans/Members and prepare simple reports.
• Assist with dining services, including transporting Veterans/Members to the dining room, informing them about menu choices, and serving meals while providing necessary assistance.
• Maintain cleanliness by changing bedding, linens, and other items to ensure neat and sanitary conditions.
• Assist licensed nurses in emergency situations by following established policies and procedures.
• Perform related duties such as transporting Veterans/Members to appointments and clerical tasks like answering phones and filing.
• Participate actively in Arizona Management System (AMS) processes such as Huddle Boards, Problem Solving, Job Breakdown Sheets, Success Tracking, and Standardized Work.
• Engage fully in the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) process as mandated by CMS, which incorporates AMS.

Knowledge of:

• Principles, practices, and techniques of para-professional nursing care, treatment, and services.
• State and agency laws and regulations governing para-professional nursing practices.
• Practices and procedures for using medical equipment and maintaining a safe, orderly, therapeutic, and hygienic environment.

Skills in:

• Applying methods and techniques of para-professional nursing practices and interpreting relevant laws and regulations.
• Using and maintaining medical equipment.
• Recording, maintaining, and retrieving medical records.
• Effective verbal and written communication.

Ability to:

• Establish and maintain effective work relationships.
• Learn, implement, and monitor Arizona Management System (AMS) methods.
