Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
Full-Time & Per Diem (PRN)
As a COTA at Shinnery Oak Community, you will provide hands-on occupational therapy services under the direction and supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist.
You will help residents improve their ability to perform daily activities, increase functional mobility, promote safety, and maximize independence.
Responsibilities
- Provide skilled occupational therapy treatments according to established plans of care.
- Implement individualized treatment programs based on resident needs and goals.
- Provide therapeutic activities and exercises to improve strength, coordination, balance, mobility, and functional independence.
- Assist residents with activities of daily living, including dressing, grooming, toileting, feeding, and other self-care tasks.
- Monitor resident responses to treatment and progress toward established goals.
- Document treatments and resident progress accurately and in a timely manner.
- Communicate changes in resident condition and progress to the supervising OT and interdisciplinary team.
- Educate residents, families, and caregivers regarding therapeutic techniques and safety strategies.
- Participate in care plan meetings and interdisciplinary team discussions as needed.
- Ensure all services are provided in accordance with professional standards and applicable state and federal regulations.
COTA Qualifications
- Current Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) certification required.
- Current Texas Occupational Therapy Assistant license required.
- Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
- SNF, subacute, or long-term care experience preferred.
- Strong clinical, organizational, and documentation skills.
- Knowledge of current occupational therapy practices and applicable regulatory guidelines.
- Experience with electronic documentation systems preferred; Net Health experience is a plus.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Compassionate, resident-centered approach to care.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with an interdisciplinary team.
COTA Sign-On Bonus
New full-time COTA hires are eligible for a sign-on bonus.
PRN positions are not eligible for the sign-on bonus.
Occupational Therapist (OT)
Full-Time
Shinnery Oak Community is seeking a skilled and compassionate Occupational Therapist to join our in-house rehabilitation team.
The Occupational Therapist will evaluate residents, develop individualized plans of care, provide skilled treatment, monitor progress, and help residents achieve their highest possible level of functional independence.
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive occupational therapy evaluations.
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on clinical findings and resident goals.
- Provide skilled interventions to improve activities of daily living, functional mobility, strength, coordination, balance, cognition, and independence.
- Monitor resident progress and modify treatment plans as clinically appropriate.
- Supervise and provide direction to COTAs in accordance with applicable requirements.
- Complete evaluations, progress notes, treatment documentation, and discharge documentation.
- Participate in care planning and interdisciplinary team meetings.
- Communicate effectively with nursing, physicians, residents, families, caregivers, and other members of the care team.
- Educate residents and caregivers regarding treatment programs, safety, adaptive techniques, and carryover programs.
- Ensure all services are provided in accordance with professional standards and applicable state and federal regulations.
OT Qualifications
- Current Occupational Therapist license in Texas required.
- Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program.
- Current professional registration/certification as applicable.
- SNF, subacute, or long-term care experience preferred.
- Strong clinical assessment and treatment-planning skills.
- Excellent documentation and communication skills.
- Experience with electronic documentation systems preferred; Net Health experience is a plus.
- Compassionate, resident-focused approach to care.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with an interdisciplinary team.
OT Sign-On Bonus
New full-time Occupational Therapist hires are eligible for a sign-on bonus.
