Position Overview
"Navitas Healthcare, LLC" is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) for a 13-week contract assignment within an OB/GYN surgical services unit at a high-volume acute care hospital in New York City.
This role requires strong perioperative expertise with a focus on obstetrics and gynecology procedures. The Surgical Technologist will function as a scrub tech, ensuring strict adherence to sterile technique while supporting the surgical team in a fast-paced operating room environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms for OB/GYN surgical procedures
- Maintain strict sterile technique throughout all surgical cases
- Function as a scrub technologist during procedures
- Set up, handle, and manage surgical instruments and supplies
- Perform accurate surgical counts and ensure OR safety protocols are followed
- Assist with patient positioning, prepping, and draping
- Anticipate surgeon needs during procedures
- Support infection control and hospital safety standards
- Document case activities as required
- Collaborate effectively with surgeons, nurses, and OR staff
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification (NBSTSA or AST accepted)
- Minimum 1 year of OB/GYN or Labor & Delivery OR experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of perioperative procedures and sterile technique
- Ability to perform in a fast-paced surgical environment
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- High attention to detail and compliance with OR protocols
