Certified Payroll Specialist

Location: Jurupa Valley, CA

Pay: $26.00-$33.00/hour, DOE

Job Type: Contract with Possibility of Hire

We are seeking an experienced Certified Payroll Specialist to join a growing team in Ontario, CA. The ideal candidate will have experience processing certified payroll for public works projects and be knowledgeable in California prevailing wage requirements. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is detail-oriented, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is looking for a contract position with long-term potential.

Responsibilities

  • Process weekly certified payroll for multiple public works projects in compliance with California prevailing wage requirements.

  • Prepare and submit certified payroll reports through LCPtracker and ensure compliance with DIR (Department of Industrial Relations) reporting requirements.

  • Review payroll records for prevailing wage compliance, proper classifications, fringe benefits, overtime, and apprentice ratios.

  • Maintain accurate payroll records, certified payroll documentation, and employee files.

  • Research and resolve payroll discrepancies while responding to contractor, auditor, and employee inquiries.

  • Coordinate with project managers and HR to ensure accurate labor allocations and certified payroll reporting.

  • Process garnishments, deductions, direct deposits, and payroll adjustments as needed.

  • Assist with payroll audits and provide documentation requested by clients and regulatory agencies.

  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws and company policies.

  • Support additional payroll and accounting projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of certified payroll experience required.

  • Hands-on experience with LCPtracker and California DIR reporting is required.

  • Paychex payroll software experience is preferred.

  • Strong understanding of California prevailing wage laws and certified payroll regulations.

  • Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.

  • Ability to work independently and meet strict payroll deadlines.
