Johnson Service Group (JSG) has an immediate opportunity for a Certified Payroll Specialist to join an established Electrical Contractor in San Diego.
Contract | Onsite | $34 - $36/Hr.

We are seeking an experienced Certified Payroll Specialist to manage certified payroll reporting, prevailing wage compliance, and a variety of HR processes. This role requires accuracy, confidentiality, and a strong understanding of payroll practices and employment regulations.

Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Certified Payroll Specialist to manage certified payroll reporting, prevailing wage compliance, and a variety of HR processes. This role requires accuracy, confidentiality, and a strong understanding of payroll practices and employment regulations.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Process weekly payroll for hourly, salaried, and prevailing wage employees.
- Collect and verify employee timesheets and hours worked.
- Calculate payroll adjustments, including overtime, deductions, and bonuses.
- Maintain accurate records of pay rates, wages, benefits, and new hire information.
- Respond to payroll inquiries from employees and supervisors in a timely manner.
- Prepare and distribute payroll and HR reports for management.
- Complete monthly union reporting of wages and hours worked.
- Manage employee onboarding and offboarding processes.
- Set up employees in HRIS/payroll databases and maintain personnel records.
- Organize and file employee documentation, including contracts, benefits, and training records.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in payroll and HR support.
- Certified Payroll reporting experience required, with knowledge of state and federal prevailing wage regulations and PLA/PSA project requirements.
- Strong knowledge of payroll best practices and compliance standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Sage 300 software preferred.
- Detail-oriented, highly organized, and committed to confidentiality.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High schooldiploma or equivalent required; Bachelors degree in Business, Accounting, or a related field preferred.
