Job Summary
Protech Staffing is seeking an experienced Payroll / Certified Payroll Administrator to join a busy construction-related organization in Stockton, CA. This position is responsible for processing weekly payroll, certified payroll reporting, union reporting, prevailing wage compliance, and ensuring all payroll records are accurate and submitted on time. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities while maintaining confidentiality and accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
  • Process accurate weekly payroll for hourly employees, including private, prevailing wage, and union payroll.
  • Prepare and submit Certified Payroll Reports in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Complete reporting through the DIR Portal, LCP Tracker, and other certified payroll reporting systems.
  • Process union reporting, remittances, and benefit contributions.
  • Administer payroll taxes for California and Nevada employees.
  • Track employee PTO and maintain accurate payroll records.
  • Process new hire paperwork, employee changes, and terminations.
  • Review subcontractor certified payroll reports and monitor compliance documentation.
  • Maintain accurate labor records and assist with audits as needed.
  • Ensure payroll deadlines are consistently met with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Communicate professionally with employees, vendors, subcontractors, and internal departments regarding payroll-related matters.
  • Assist with additional administrative and payroll duties as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications
  • 3-5 years of payroll and certified payroll experience preferred.
  • Experience processing Certified Payroll for prevailing wage projects required.
  • Working knowledge of DIR Portal, LCP Tracker, or similar certified payroll reporting systems.
  • Experience with Foundation Software is preferred.
  • Knowledge of California prevailing wage laws and certified payroll compliance.
  • Experience with union payroll, wage rates, benefit reporting, and remittances strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of federal and state payroll tax regulations, garnishments, and payroll compliance.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong computer proficiency.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
  • Professional attitude with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality are essential.
Work Environment
  • Full-time, in-office position located in Stockton, CA.
  • Monday through Friday, 1st Shift.
  • Fast-paced office environment supporting construction operations.
  • This is not a remote position.
