Position Details:

  • Hourly Base Rate: $22.61 - $28.78 + 10% resource differential
  • Shift: 10 hour per shift
  • Hours Per Week: 20 hours per week

Job Summary:

  • Performs billing functions for all medications and pharmacy supplies provided to patients.
  • Bills hospital departments for requisitioned supplies.
  • Places drug orders to wholesalers and manufacturers.
  • Checks in drug merchandise and processes invoices.
  • Orders supplies from the hospitals purchasing department.
  • Restocks nursing unit floor stock carts and cassettes.
  • Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, fills unit does medication cassettes and prepares IV medications for patients.
  • Performs clerical duties as required.
  • Delivers medication cassettes and IVs to nursing units.
  • Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, prepares and labels unit dose containers from bulk supplies when required.
  • Answers the phone and takes phone messages for the pharmacist when necessary.
  • Keeps pricing of supplies up to date.
  • Maintains adequate inventory of IV medication batches and all other medications and supplies.
  • Assists in conducting annual inventory when required.
  • Files controlled drug records and other essential documents.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required, some college education preferred.
  • Oregon State Certification required.
  • Minimum of six months hospital or retail technician experience preferred.
  • Completion of a technician certification program desired.
  • Must be able to stand for significant periods of time.
  • Must be able to perform moderate lifting functions and push somewhat heavy carts over carpeted surfaces.
  • Must possess knowledge of good sterile technique.
