The Pharmacy Technician Lead Certified Retail Specialty performs specialized functions necessary to assist pharmacists in providing safe, efficient, and cost-effective services. Working under limited supervision, this role maintains workflow, inventory, billing and other complex pharmacy processes. Additionally, they have ownership of a specialty area.
Essential Job Function
- Oversees and directs pharmacy workflow including receiving and transcribing orders; answering phones; selling prescriptions; nonsterile compounding; and managing and maintaining automation.
- Maintains pharmacy inventory.
- Teaches other pharmacy technicians specialized job skills in order to support workplace learning.
- Serves as a mentor in the training and orientation of new employees.
- Leads and implements process improvement and departmental quality initiatives.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education
- Required: High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience
Licensure/Certification/Listing
- Required: Certified Pharmacy Technician and must complete an ''advanced pharmacy technician certification'' within 12 months of starting the role.
