East Florida Eye Institute is seeking a motivated and detail‑oriented Certified Phlebotomist who is interested in training to become an Ophthalmic Tester/Technician. This hybrid role is ideal for someone who enjoys patient care, thrives in a clinical environment, and is looking for a long‑term career path in ophthalmology.
Key Responsibilities
Phlebotomy Duties (Immediate):
- Perform safe and accurate venipuncture for blood draws.
- Properly label, handle, and prepare specimens for processing.
- Maintain sterility, safety standards, and accurate documentation.
Ophthalmic Testing Duties (Training Provided):
- Conduct basic vision screening and diagnostic tests (visual acuity, tonometry, OCT, visual fields).
- Document patient history and encounter details in the EMR.
- Prepare patients for examinations and assist technicians and physicians as needed.
- Learn and adhere to ophthalmic testing protocols, equipment handling, and patient flow.
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomist (required).
- Strong clinical experience with patient interaction.
- Ophthalmic experience is not required — training will be provided.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and professionalism.
- Ability to learn new equipment and medical procedures quickly.
Bonus Skills (not required):
- Prior medical assistant experience
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
- Experience in any vision‑related field
