    Summary

    Job Summary
    Responsible for the delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, diagnosing, planning, implementation, and evaluation.  Provides timely medical/forensic examination of the sexual assault/forensic patient under the collaboration of law enforcement, or Adult or Child Protective Services.  Collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes.  Utilizes knowledge of patient’s age and cultural diversity in the provision of patient care.  Contributes to the provision of quality nursing care through performance improvement techniques that demonstrate positive outcomes in patient care.

    6. Ability to identify the needs of sexually assaulted patients that would require physician intervention and seek such intervention in a timely manner
    7. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

    Work Experience
    Three years of experience as a Registered Nurse in the following areas:  SANE, Trauma, Emergency Department, ICU, Pediatrics, and /or Woman’s Health or other related field.

    License/Registration/Certification
    1. Current and active license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Texas is required.
    2. Current CPR training is required.
    3. Certification as an adult and pediatric Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner from the Texas’s Attorney General’s Office.

    Education and Training
    1. Bachelor degree in Nursing is required.  May consider Associate degree in Nursing with 5 years of clinical experience in the following areas:  SANE, Trauma, Emergency Department, ICU, Pediatrics, Woman’s Health or other related field.
    2. Completion of the Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) or Advance Trauma Course for Nurses (ATCN) is required within one year of being in the department.
    3. Completion of the Emergency Pediatric Nurse Course (ENPC) is required within one year of being in the department.
    4. Completion of the Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) is required within one year of being in the department.
    5. TNCC/ATCN and ENPC instructor status is preferred.
