We are seeking a highly skilled, dedicated Certified School Nurse (CSN) to direct our on-site medical suite and manage medical fragility across our specialized educational programs.
In this role, you will serve as a core member of our multidisciplinary expert team, ensuring that high-acuity students with complex physical and cognitive health needs receive safe, dignified, and legally compliant healthcare.
Your mission will be to manage daily medical interventions, build home-school continuity, and eliminate physical health barriers so every child can thrive safely inside the learning milieu.
Core Responsibilities
High-Acuity Medical Management - You will deliver direct 1:1 or site-based medical monitoring and interventions for complex needs, including the execution of specialized seizure protocols, tube feeding (G-tube) management, tracheostomy care, and precise medication administration.
Individualized Health Care Plans (IHCP) - You will formulate and implement comprehensive IHCPs that integrate with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) or Section 504 Service Agreements to accommodate chronic conditions.
Pharmacological Monitoring - You will maintain dedicated communication lines with outside physicians and psychiatrists to diligently track medication side effects and pharmacological impacts on learning variables.
Mandated Screenings - You will execute state-mandated child health screening arrays, specifically conducting vision and hearing tests to isolate and address potential physical impediments to a student's education.
Emergency and Crisis Checks - You will conduct immediate, post-crisis nursing evaluations and medical safety checks for any student involved in a significant behavioral or physical crisis event .
Regulatory Compliance - You will orchestrate the strict maintenance of medical records and clinic protocols to comply fully with the Pennsylvania School Health Code and PDE health and sanitation benchmarks.
Resource Inventory Stewardship - You will manage the on-site ordering and clean maintenance of specialized medical suite assets, equipment calibrations, and daily clinical input tracking.
Position Qualifications
Required Professional Credentials - Must hold a valid license as a Registered Nurse (RN) issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing, and a valid and active Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) School Nurse / Educational Specialist certification.
Candidate certifications and license validations must clear verification protocols via the PDE TIMS database.
Must have a proven track record handling acute clinical interventions, behavioral health intersections, or specialized pediatric settings in multi-disciplinary urban educational environments.
Linguistic and Cultural Competency - Strong capabilities to deliver clear, empathetic medical guidance and translated healthcare check-ins to diverse Philadelphia family configurations.
