Overview:
Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist
BreakThrough Physical Therapy
Southern Pines, North Carolina
We’re Not Hiring Another Personal Trainer
We’re looking for a coach who wants to help people move beyond rehabilitation and toward long-term strength, confidence, and performance.
At BreakThrough Physical Therapy, you’ll work alongside physical therapists to create individualized programs for athletes, golfers, active adults, and clients transitioning out of physical therapy.
This is not a sales-focused gym position. It’s an opportunity to combine strength and conditioning, movement assessment, golf fitness, injury prevention, and performance coaching within a collaborative healthcare environment.
Why BreakThrough?
You will join a team focused on helping people recover, perform, and remain active throughout their lives.
Many clients will have a direct pathway from physical therapy into performance training, allowing you to focus on coaching, education, relationships, and measurable results.
This is more than an opportunity to lead workouts. It is an opportunity to help build a sports performance program and bridge the gap between rehabilitation and lifelong performance.
If you are passionate about helping people move better, become stronger, and reach meaningful goals, we would love to meet you.
Responsibilities:
What You’ll Do
* Assess movement, strength, mobility, and performance needs.
* Create individualized strength and conditioning programs.
* Coach one-on-one and small-group training sessions.
* Help clients transition safely from physical therapy into performance training.
* Assess golf-specific movement, swing mechanics, and physical readiness.
* Develop programs that improve the mobility, stability, strength, power, and endurance needed for golf.
* Track measurable progress and adjust programs accordingly.
* Collaborate with physical therapists regarding client goals and progress.
Within your first 90 days, you will independently assess clients, develop effective programs, and deliver a high-quality coaching experience.
Within six months, you will maintain a consistent client schedule, demonstrate measurable client progress, and contribute to client retention and program growth.
Within your first year, you will help expand BreakThrough’s sports performance services and strengthen the pathway from rehabilitation to long-term health and athletic performance.
Who We’re Looking For
You enjoy solving movement and performance challenges and care about coaching quality—not simply counting repetitions.
You can explain the purpose behind a program, adapt it to the individual, and work collaboratively with physical therapists, golfers, athletes, coaches, and other healthcare professionals.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications
* Current NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist certification.
* Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
* Current CPR/AED certification.
* Knowledge of exercise technique, program design, movement assessment, and performance progression.
* Ability to assess golf readiness and understand how physical limitations may affect the golf swing.
* Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
Preferred Experience
* Degree in exercise science, kinesiology, athletic training, or a related field.
* Experience coaching athletes, golfers, active adults, or post-rehabilitation clients.
* Experience with golf fitness assessments and golf-specific performance programming.
* Titleist Performance Institute certification or similar golf fitness education.
* Experience leading individual and small-group training.
