Certified Surgical Tech (CST)

POSITION SUMMARY: Functions in scrub role and as assistant to surgeon during surgical procedures. EDUCATION, CREDENTIALS, TRAINING and EXPERIENCE: Minimum Required: Graduate of an approved program in Surgical Technology, and certified as a Surgical Technician. BCLS certification; recertification required every two years. Must be competent to perform in all areas of surgical services. Preferred: Same ADDITIONAL SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS: Incumbent must demonstrate an ability to apply age-appropriate principles of communication and clinical practice relevant to patients of all ages. Incumbent must demonstrate competence in the use of equipment and application of procedures before being allowed to perform independently.
