Certified Surgical Technician
Locations: The Villages, FL
Type: Full-Time
Position Overview
Our client is seeking a skilled Certified Surgical Technician to join our high-volume, outpatient cosmetic surgery team. This is a hybrid clinical role designed for a professional who enjoys the precision of the operating room but also values direct patient interaction.
Unlike a traditional hospital OR, our procedures (specializing in facelifts and facial plastics) are performed on awake patients under local anesthesia. You will balance "scrubbing in" with medical assistant responsibilities, ensuring a seamless flow from patient intake to post-operative discharge.
The Non-Negotiables (Requirements)
To be successful in this role, you must meet the following criteria:
- Surgical Experience: Proven experience assisting in surgical procedures (Passing instruments, identifying scalpels/sutures, and maintaining a sterile field).
- Surgical Technologist Certification required.
- The "Hybrid" Mindset: You must be willing to perform both surgical scrubbing and clinical tasks (rooming patients, charting, and cleaning). This is a doctor's office environment, not a trauma center.
- Availability: Must be able to work shifts between 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM (typically 10 AM – 7 PM) and participate in a rotating Saturday schedule (occasional Sundays may be required).
- Clinical Proficiency: Ability to document accurately in an EMR (Nextech experience is a major plus).
Key Responsibilities
Surgical & Sterilization Support
- Assist surgeons during local anesthesia facelifts, injectables, and facial plastic surgeries.
- Prepare sterile fields, organize surgical instruments, and anticipate provider needs.
- Manage Autoclave processes and maintain strict sterilization and infection control standards.
- Support rapid room turnover in a high-efficiency environment.
Patient Care & Clinical Operations
- Rooming & Intake: Obtain patient histories, assist with positioning, and perform skin prep.
- Education: Provide clear pre- and post-operative instructions to patients.
- Documentation: Maintain real-time, accurate charting within the EMR.
- Coordination: Assist with medication orders, prescriptions, and clinical follow-up calls.
Compensation & Benefits
- The Villages Rate: $24.00 – $26.00 / hour ($30+ only for highly experienced candidates requiring minimal training).
- Health Insurance:100% Employer-paid premium for the employee.
- Paid Time Off: 2 weeks PTO in the first year.
- Holidays: 11 Paid Holidays (including your birthday!).
Ideal Candidate Profile
We are looking for candidates from Outpatient Cosmetic, Dermatology, ENT, or Plastic Surgery backgrounds. This role is perfect for a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or a highly experienced Medical Assistant (CMA) who has extensive "hands-on" experience in a procedural or surgical setting.
Note to Applicants: We are looking for someone who thrives in a structured, fast-paced workflow and maintains a professional, calming presence for patients who are awake during their procedures.
