Job Title: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)
Location: Hyannis, MA
Duration: 13 Weeks
Schedule: 40 Hours per Week – Rotating Day Shifts (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM)
Compensation
- Traveler Pay: $55–$60/hr ($2,062–$2,250/week) based on experience
- Local Pay: $45–$50/hr ($1,687–$1,875/week) based on experience
Call Requirements
- No call or weekends during the initial contract period.
- Future contract extensions may include limited weekend and overnight call responsibilities based on department scheduling needs.
Position Overview
We are seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) to support a multidisciplinary surgical team in delivering safe, efficient, and high-quality perioperative care. The Surgical Technologist will assist during surgical procedures by maintaining a sterile environment, preparing surgical instruments and supplies, and anticipating the needs of the surgeon and operating room team.
The ideal candidate possesses strong technical knowledge of surgical procedures, infection prevention practices, and sterile processing standards, with the ability to work effectively across multiple surgical specialties.
Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by assembling surgical instruments, equipment, sterile drapes, and supplies.
- Establish and maintain sterile fields in accordance with AORN standards and infection prevention guidelines.
- Perform scrub duties across a variety of surgical specialties and procedures.
- Pass instruments, sutures, and sterile supplies to surgeons and surgical assistants during procedures.
- Assist with surgical counts of instruments, needles, sponges, and supplies.
- Hold retractors, cut sutures, and provide intraoperative support as directed by the surgeon.
- Prepare, label, and manage medications under the direction of the surgeon and Registered Nurse.
- Handle and transport surgical specimens according to established protocols.
- Assist with patient positioning, transport, and preparation for surgery.
- Ensure all specialty-specific instrumentation and equipment are available and functioning properly.
- Operate and monitor surgical equipment, lighting, suction devices, and other procedural support systems.
- Assist with room turnover, equipment restocking, and preparation for subsequent procedures.
- Support quality improvement initiatives and maintain compliance with departmental policies and regulatory standards.
- Participate in staff meetings, educational programs, and ongoing professional development activities.
- Assist in orienting and mentoring new surgical services personnel as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program (Civilian or Military) required.
Certifications
- Current NBSTSA Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification required and must be maintained throughout employment.
- Current BLS Certification required.
Experience
- Previous operating room experience required.
- Orthopedic surgical experience strongly preferred.
- Ability to function effectively across multiple surgical specialties preferred.

- Strong understanding of infection prevention and patient safety practices.
