Hours: Full-Time - Days; 40 Hours Weekly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare operating rooms with the instruments, supplies, equipment, and sterile field required for surgical procedures.
  • Assist surgeons during procedures by anticipating needs, passing instruments, handling sutures, and maintaining a sterile environment.
  • Support patient care by assisting with positioning, prepping, draping, and specimen handling.
  • Perform instrument sterilization, disinfection, assembly, storage, and quality checks in accordance with infection control standards.
  • Complete surgical counts and ensure compliance with patient safety and procedural protocols.
  • Clean and restock operating rooms between cases to ensure readiness for upcoming procedures.
  • Pull case carts according to physician preference cards and assist with inventory management and supply ordering.
  • Operate and maintain surgical equipment, performing routine inspections and troubleshooting as needed.
  • Collaborate effectively with surgeons, nurses, and perioperative team members to deliver exceptional patient care.
  • Participate in ongoing education, competency validation, and quality improvement initiatives.

Position Requirements

Education/Certification/License:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
  • Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required (unless grandfathered under current regulations).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Operating room experience is preferred.
  • Must be detail oriented and very organized.
  • Must be able to work under the direction of the Charge Nurse and Surgery Center Director while also receiving direction from physicians and other professional personnel.
