SUMMARY

Interpret blueprints, job cards, bill of materials, and routing sheets. Deal with problems involving several variables from situations which vary by customized order. Work within precise limits. Must be able to pass all Pierce Manufacturing internal welder qualification tests. Bench, MIG, and/or TIG welding experience (aluminum and steel).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Set-up weld equipment and maintains the weld training area for training and testing activities. Implements and supports 5S opportunities within the department.
  • Assist Human Resources and Supervision in the hiring process by conduction the Pre-employment weld evaluation test.
  • Train and provide guidance to new employees hired for welding.
  • Explain and demonstrate documented welding procedures as used at Pierce Manufacturing.
  • Explain and demonstrate the proper welding techniques necessary to pass a code defined welder qualification test.
  • Evaluate weld test pieces fairly, objectively and impartial.
  • Documents weld training and testing information.
  • Assist manufacturing in the technical role for weld equipment and process related problem solving.
  • Test and maintain weld procedures as required.
  • Strive to achieve the Weld Training/Testing Department goals.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Technical degree or certificate in Industrial Welding or previous welding experience
  • Ability read blueprints required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post secondary training in a welding or welding related field at a trade or technical college level preferred.
  • A certified Welding Inspector (AWS-CWI), certified by the American Welding Society or the ability to become AWS-CWI certified preferred.
  • Previous experience as a Pierce employee or temporary contractor working at Pierce.
