MAU is hiring a Certified Weld Inspector for our client in Columbia, SC. As a Certified Weld Inspector, you will perform weld inspections, non-destructive examinations (NDE), dimensional inspections, and quality control activities to ensure fabricated equipment, piping, and pressure vessels meet applicable standards and specifications. This is a direct-hire opportunity.

Required Education and Experience

  • Minimum of two years of experience as a Certified Weld Inspector (CWI)

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Additional nondestructive testing certifications (PT, MT, etc.)
  • Previous welding experience

General Requirements

  • Ability to perform day-to-day nondestructive examination (NDE) activities
  • Knowledge of visual examination of materials, structures, and components for corrosion, metal fatigue, cracks, and other flaws
  • Ability to execute inspection plans for pressure vessels, piping, and fabricated equipment
  • Ability to understand, interpret, and review engineering drawings
  • Knowledge of documenting nondestructive examination methods, processes, and results
  • Ability to interpret inspection results in accordance with applicable codes, standards, specifications, and procedures
  • Ability to prepare inspection reports and communicate findings to appropriate parties
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to visually inspect structural steel, piping, and pressure vessel internals
  • Strong work ethic with exceptional safety and quality awareness
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to work as part of a team and follow directions and procedures
  • Ability to pass a drug test, pre-employment physical, and background investigation

Essential Functions

  • Perform weld inspections, nondestructive examinations (NDE), and dimensional inspections
  • Verify material testing and documentation
  • Conduct surveillance of fabrication activities and quality control processes
  • Ensure all applicable documentation is accurate and complete
  • Assist the Quality Assurance Manager in implementing the NQA-1 Quality Control Program
  • Inspect materials, structures, and components for corrosion, metal fatigue, cracks, and other defects
  • Execute inspection plans for pressure vessels, piping, and fabricated equipment
  • Interpret and review engineering drawings as required
  • Document nondestructive examination methods, processes, and results
  • Interpret inspection results in accordance with applicable codes, standards, specifications, and procedures
  • Prepare inspection reports and communicate findings to appropriate parties
