Responsibilities:
Following established procedures, responsibilities may include some or all the following:
- Properly set up and operate manual and automatic welding systems per work instructions and good welding practices.
- Position and adjust fixtures, attachments, or workpiece on machine using visual acuity, hand tools, and measuring devices.
- Adjust within procedural limits to fine-tune the process to achieve conformance standards.
- Read and understand product and process drawings, procedures, weld symbols, and quality requirements.
- Perform proper pre-weld cleaning and handling of parts.
- Inspect hardware to ensure specifications are met by visual inspection and measuring devices.
- Maintain a high level of performance while following appropriate procedures and observing all pertinent safety rules and requirements.
- Maintain work area and equipment in an organized, clean, and FOD-free manner.
- Obtain and maintain all required qualifications and certifications in all appropriate metals.
- Ability to perform set-up and troubleshooting of weld equipment.
- Understand general and weld specific safety issues.
- Provide guidance to less experienced welders as necessary.
- Assist with skill development, safety, and other training of welders.
- Work with Engineering as needed to develop weld processes and resolve weld issues.
- Troubleshoot all weld equipment working in a team environment to maintain operational needs.
Qualifications:
- HS diploma or equivalent.
- At least 8 years of welding or related experience or demonstrated ability to perform the described responsibilities.
- Able to become certified to AWS D1.1:2001.
- Able to read and understand product and process drawings, procedures, weld symbols, and quality requirements.
- Must demonstrate manual dexterity.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Must be able to read and understand blueprints.
- Working knowledge of machine shop mathematics.
- Must demonstrate effective English verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with others and be a participative team player.
