The CWI will be a key member of the Quality Department, working closely with the Quality Manager, QC Supervisor, and Shop Foreman/Supervisor. This individual will conduct inspections, review procedures, and support the Quality team in ensuring compliance with codes, customer specifications, and internal standards.
Primary Responsibilities
Perform inspections to determine if weldments meet acceptance criteria per applicable codes, standards, or customer specifications (ASME, AWS, API, or project-specific requirements).
Conduct visual inspection of completed work and recommend repairs when necessary.
Review Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and welder qualification records, including bend testing.
Read and interpret job specifications, shop drawings, and fabrication plans to ensure proper layout, fit up, and weldment quality.
Prepare detailed, accurate inspection reports and maintain organized documentation and filing systems.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with management, production, and other employees.
Provide guidance and mentorship to welding personnel and less-experienced inspectors.
Collaborate with production, engineering, and management to resolve welding or quality-related issues.
Assist with audits, continuous improvement initiatives, and other related duties as assigned.
