CERTIFIED WELDING INSPECTOR / MANUFACTURING WELDING TRAINER
Welding Inspection | MIG Welding | Aluminum and Steel FabricationLocation: Murfreesboro, TN
Pay Rate: $24.94 per hour
Schedule: Monday through Thursday, 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Hours: Four 10-hour shifts, 40 hours per week
Assignment: Long-term contract with potential for direct hire
Interview Process: Phone interview followed by an on-site welding test
Position OverviewOur client is seeking two Certified Welding Inspectors with extensive MIG welding experience involving aluminum and steel. This position combines hands-on welding inspection, quality support, and employee training within a live manufacturing environment.
The Certified Welding Inspector will inspect cab welds, support brazing and welding quality, and train manufacturing employees on approved welding and fabrication techniques. Training may be conducted individually, in small groups, or directly on the production floor.
Candidates must possess a current Certified Welding Inspector certification, have at least five years of aluminum and steel welding experience, and successfully complete an on-site weld test.
Responsibilities
  • Inspect welding and fabrication work for quality and compliance with established standards.
  • Support quality inspections involving vehicle cabs, brazed joints, and welded assemblies.
  • Train manufacturing employees on welding operations and techniques.
  • Provide instruction on MIG welding processes involving aluminum and steel.
  • Teach fabrication processes, quality expectations, and safe work practices.
  • Conduct training individually, in small groups, and within a live manufacturing environment.
  • Coach employees on completing welding and fabrication tasks safely and correctly.
  • Identify welding defects and provide clear corrective guidance.
  • Communicate inspection findings, quality concerns, and training needs to appropriate team members.
  • Develop written, online, and hands-on training materials.
  • Create training aids, demonstrations, and instructional props.
  • Perform training-needs assessments and task analyses.
  • Develop training materials using the ADDIE instructional-design model.
  • Demonstrate how JDE2 and other required manufacturing systems are used.
  • Help employees locate technical information using Pierce Truck Builder and ProPlanner.
  • Facilitate Level 1 and Level 2 Volterra high-voltage training.
  • Provide additional manufacturing and employee support as needed.
  • Maintain positive and professional working relationships with employees, students, trainers, and leadership.
  • Follow all safety, quality, and production requirements.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Current Certified Welding Inspector certification.
  • At least five years of welding experience involving aluminum and steel.
  • Professional experience as a welding inspector, welding trainer, or comparable welding-quality professional.
  • Hands-on MIG welding experience.
  • Experience supporting welding quality and inspection activities.
  • Ability to pass an on-site welding test involving MIG and aluminum welding.
  • Ability to accurately read a ruler to 1/32 of an inch.
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly and effectively.
  • Ability to provide instruction in a classroom and live manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule when needed to support training across different shifts.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience inspecting welds on vehicle cabs or similar fabricated assemblies.
  • Knowledge of brazing processes and quality requirements.
  • Experience developing welding or manufacturing training programs.
  • Experience creating training materials using the ADDIE model.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Publisher, and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with JDE2, ProPlanner, or similar manufacturing systems.
  • Experience working in a vocational, automotive, heavy-equipment, or industrial manufacturing environment.
On-Site TestingCandidates who successfully complete the initial phone interview will participate in an on-site practical test covering MIG and aluminum welding processes.
