    Job Description

    Pipeline Welding Inspector

    Start- ASAP --> November


    Pipeline Welding Inspectors is responsible for monitoring and verifying welding activities to ensure compliance with approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), project specifications, applicable codes, and regulatory requirements.


    Key Responsibilities 

    • Inspect pipe fit-up, alignment, bevel preparation, preheat, welding, and completed welds.  
    • Verify welders and welding operators are qualified for the work being performed.  
    • Ensure welding activities follow the approved WPS, project specifications, and applicable codes and standards.  
    • Perform visual inspection of welds prior to NDE and verify NDE is completed as required.  
    • Review NDE results and ensure weld maps, weld logs, welder identification, and inspection records are accurate and traceable.  
    • Monitor tie-in activities to verify proper alignment, dimensions, fit-up, and welding practices.  
    • Identify defective or nonconforming welds and ensure repairs or corrective actions are properly documented.  
    • Verify proper pipe, material, filler metal, and component identification and traceability.  
    • Monitor contractor compliance with project safety and quality requirements and exercise stop-work authority when necessary.  
    • Maintain accurate daily inspection reports and construction quality records.  
    • Communicate welding quality issues and concerns to the Lead Welding Inspector and project management.  
    • Support final documentation, turnover, and closeout activities.  


    Minimum Qualifications 

    • High school diploma/GED or equivalent.  
    • Relevant pipeline construction and welding inspection experience.  
    • Strong knowledge of pipeline welding practices, WPS requirements, weld inspection, and NDE processes.  
    • Familiarity with API 1104, applicable ASME B31 piping codes, and applicable federal and state regulations.  
    • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, weld maps, specifications, and welding procedures.  
    • Ability to work effectively in a field construction environment and communicate with contractors and project personnel.  
    • Welding inspection certification such as AWS CWI or equivalent is preferred/required based on project requirements.
