Responsibilities

Inspect welded joints, materials, and workmanship for compliance with applicable codes (e.g., AWS, ASME, API, ISO). Verify welding procedures, WPS, procedure qualification records, PQR, and welder performance qualifications, WPQ. Perform visual inspections before, during, and after welding operations. Monitor welding processes, parameters, and techniques to ensure adherence to approved procedures. Review drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine inspection requirements. Identify nonconformances, document inspection results, and recommend corrective actions. Coordinate with welders, supervisors, engineers, and quality personnel to resolve quality issues. Prepare and maintain accurate inspection reports, logs, and quality documentation. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company quality standards. Support audits, client inspections, and regulatory inspections as required.

Requirements

  • Current AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification
  • High school diploma or equivalent technical degree preferred
  • Strong knowledge of welding processes (SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, FCAW)
  • Thorough understanding of welding symbols, codes, and standards
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
  • Proficiency with inspection tools, gauges, measuring devices, and visual aids
  • Travel and overnight stays
  • Legally able to work in the US
  • Valid Drivers License
