  • Conduct technical research and market analysis on emerging technologies relevant to DoW objectives.
  • Support the design, coding, and integration of software prototypes and proof-of-concept applications.
  • Assist in building and configuring secure sandbox environments for experimental technology.
  • Participate in laboratory and operational testing of modernized mobile devices and prototype systems.
  • Execute test plans and assist in troubleshooting hardware and software anomalies.
  • Support vulnerability assessments and security evaluations.

Qualifications

Student Interns qualify based on their educational achievements. To be eligible for the Student Internship Program, you must submit unofficial/official transcripts with the current enrollment period course load along with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50 - The absence of this information will result in an ineligible rating.   • To qualify at the 04 - Completion of 2 full academic years of post-high school study or an associates degree.
  • To qualify at the 05 - Completion of 4 academic years of post-high school leading to a bachelors degree or equivalent degree.
  • To qualify at the 07 - Completion of 1 full academic year of graduate level education; or Eligibility under the Superior Academic Achievement Provision and completion of a bachelors degree.
  • To qualify at the 09 - Completion of 2 academic years of graduate level education, or a masters degree or equivalent graduate degree.
  • Per OPM - Student Trainee Requirements for initial appointment - The required education must lead to a bachelors degree with specialization in or directly related to the field in which the student trainees will receive training on the job. The degree of specialization in this field must satisfy on graduation the specific educational requirements in the qualification standard for the corresponding two-grade interval positions.
  • Please Note (99 Trainee Series): Trainees qualify based on semester hours and are exempt from standard Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR) or Basic Requirements.   • PROGRAM COMPLETION AND CONVERSION ELIGIBILITY: Upon successful completion of their academic program and the trainee program, the student may be converted to a permanent position in the excepted consistent with agency needs, academic achievement, and demonstrated potential. Conversion potential for this opportunity is a GG-1550 or 899-5/7/9/11/12 up to the full performance level of GG-13. However, future budgetary events, hiring restrictions, conversion caps, or other events may preclude the conversion or conversion to a position with the full potential performance level. Individuals converted to a position in the competitive service may be subjected to participation in an agency formal development program.
