A premier global law firm is seeking a CFIUS, Trade Controls & Government Contracts Associate Attorney to join its Washington, DC office.

This opportunity is ideal for an attorney interested in advising public and private companies, private equity sponsors, strategic investors, and multinational businesses on sophisticated national security, foreign investment, export controls, sanctions, and government contracts matters.

Ideal Background

2–6 years of experience in CFIUS, national security, international trade, government contracts, or regulatory matters gained at a sophisticated law firm or government agency

• Experience with or a strong interest in advising clients regarding Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) reviews and the Outbound Investment Security Program (OISP)

• Experience supporting mergers & acquisitions, structured investments, joint ventures, and other strategic transactions involving national security or foreign investment considerations

• Experience with or willingness to develop expertise in government contracts, export controls, economic sanctions, internal investigations, and regulatory compliance

• Familiarity with agencies such as the Department of Commerce (BIS), Department of State (DDTC), Department of the Treasury (OFAC), and Department of Defense (DCSA) is preferred

• Experience conducting regulatory due diligence, preparing government filings, advising on compliance programs, and responding to regulatory inquiries is a plus

• Strong legal research, drafting, analytical, project management, and communication skills

• Ability to independently manage sophisticated matters while maintaining significant client interaction

• Outstanding academic credentials

J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school required

DC bar admission required or ability to become admitted
