Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Overview:

Are you a strategic, hands-on financial leader who wants direct influence with ownership and the opportunity to help guide a long-standing organization into its next stage of growth? StaffBuffalo is working with an established organization to hire a Chief Financial Officer (CFO), paying up to $150,000 annually plus bonus potential. This is an excellent opportunity for a CPA who enjoys combining high-level financial strategy with day-to-day accounting ownership in a close-knit, entrepreneurial environment.

In this role, the Chief Financial Officer will oversee the full financial function, partner directly with ownership, and support profitability, planning, reporting, and operational decision-making across the organization. The successful candidate must be detail oriented and provide practical financial guidance as the company continues to grow.

This is an in-office position in Amherst, NY, with potential for a hybrid schedule in the future. Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all accounting and financial operations, serving as the primary financial leader and strategic partner to ownership.
  • Manage budgeting, forecasting, cash flow analysis, financial reporting, and overall financial planning activities.
  • Maintain accurate financial records, reconciliations, and month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Support government contract accounting, compliance, and reporting requirements, with willingness to learn contract-specific processes.
  • Prepare and present financial insights, profitability analysis, and recommendations to ownership to support business growth.
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, strengthen internal controls, and support operational efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • CPA required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field required.
  • Strong experience leading accounting and finance operations in a hands-on environment.
  • Experience with financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and profitability analysis.
  • Ability to operate independently as the lead financial professional while partnering closely with ownership.
  • Experience with government contract accounting is helpful, with willingness to learn strongly valued.
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks and ADP preferred, along with strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
