Chief Financial Officer (CFO) – Apparel (NYC, Onsite)

CBIZ is assisting our client, an apparel manufacturing and distributing company based in NYC, in their search for a CFO. Our client is seeking a strategic, hands-on CFO to lead finance and accounting for their global manufacturing and distribution operation. This is an on-site role based in Manhattan.

Key Responsibilities

• Set financial strategy, drive profitable growth, and support long-term capital planning.
• Lead annual operating plan, rolling forecasts, and multi-year models; translate strategy into measurable financial and operating targets.
• Serve as executive sponsor for ongoing ERP implementation.
• Drive reporting automation and KPI visibility (sell-through, margin, inventory turns, OTIF, chargebacks).
• Leverage automation/AI where appropriate (forecasting, demand/supply planning insights, anomaly detection, AP/AR automation).
• Oversee finance for international sourcing, factory relationships, and logistics; manage landed cost/margin analytics, inventory valuation, and supply chain finance.
• Own financial administration of licensing portfolios: deal modeling, royalty reporting, minimum guarantees/true-ups, and compliance with licensor requirements.
• Lead/partner on negotiation of financial terms with key retailers.
• Oversee US GAAP reporting, monthly/quarterly close, and internal controls.
• Coordinate tax planning and compliance; manage audit relationships (external auditors, banks, insurers).
• Evaluate IFRS familiarity for international entities/partners as needed.
• Manage and optimize outsourced accounting/finance providers.
• Lead and develop a domestic accounting and finance team.
• Manage cash and evaluate capital needs to support growth and seasonality.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of progressive finance leadership in apparel or closely related consumer/retail manufacturing and distribution; prior CFO or finance leader experience preferred.
• End-to-end ERP implementation leadership.
• Experience with global sourcing and manufacturing.
• Licensing/royalty finance experience.
• Proven success negotiating commercial terms with major retailers.
• Strong command of US GAAP; familiarity with IFRS and multi-entity, multi-currency environments a plus.
• Technology-forward mindset: automation/AI.
• Excellent communicator and cross-functional partner.
• Bachelor’s in Accounting/Finance required; CPA and/or MBA preferred.

Annual compensation targeting $300-350k including base and bonus.
