A bit about us:We are seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join a well-established, family-owned construction and real estate development organization on Long Island. This executive will serve as a strategic partner to ownership and senior leadership, overseeing all aspects of financial management, capital planning, real estate accounting, development finance, and long-term growth initiatives.
The ideal candidate brings a combination of construction, real estate, development, and property management expertise, coupled with the executive presence to guide financial strategy, optimize portfolio performance, and support acquisition and development activities.

Job DetailsKey Responsibilities
Strategic Financial Leadership
- Serve as a trusted financial advisor to ownership and executive leadership.
- Develop and execute long-term financial strategies that support growth, profitability, and capital preservation.
- Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and strategic planning initiatives.
- Provide executive-level analysis of investment opportunities, project feasibility, and portfolio performance.
Real Estate & Development Finance
- Oversee financial performance across construction projects, operating properties, and investment entities.
- Participate in the evaluation and underwriting of acquisitions, dispositions, joint ventures, and development opportunities.
- Analyze investment performance, Net Operating Income (NOI), project returns, capital structures, and asset-level profitability.
- Manage capital expenditure (CapEx) budgeting, tenant improvement (TI) amortization, and redevelopment planning.
- Support valuation analysis utilizing ARGUS and other real estate financial modeling tools.
Debt & Capital Management
- Manage relationships with banks, lenders, investors, and financial partners.
- Oversee covenant compliance for all existing debt facilities and financing arrangements.
- Monitor cash reserves, liquidity planning, and capital deployment strategies across individual property LLCs and operating entities.
- Assist ownership with financing negotiations, refinancing initiatives, and capital raising efforts.
- Develop strategies for optimizing leverage, cash flow, and return on invested capital.
Accounting & Financial Operations
- Direct all accounting, reporting, audit, tax, treasury, and FP&A activities.
- Ensure accurate and timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Oversee consolidations involving multiple entities, partnerships, and property-level ownership structures.
- Maintain strong internal controls, accounting policies, and financial governance procedures.
- Coordinate external audits, tax planning, and compliance activities.
Portfolio & Investor Management
- Monitor asset and portfolio performance against investment targets.
- Oversee fund compliance requirements when applicable, including capital deployment tracking and investor reporting.
- Manage distribution waterfall calculations and partnership allocations.
- Deliver sophisticated financial reporting and analytics to ownership and stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- MBA required.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field.
- Minimum 10-15 years of progressive financial leadership experience.
- At least 5-7 years within commercial real estate, residential real estate, construction, development, or property management environments.
- Demonstrated experience managing multi-million-dollar or multi-billion-dollar budgets, assets under management (AUM), or complex financial portfolios.
- Extensive experience supporting acquisitions, dispositions, financing transactions, and development projects.
- Strong understanding of construction accounting, real estate finance, capital planning, and portfolio management.
- Expertise in financial modeling, forecasting, and strategic planning.
- Experience leading finance teams and partnering with owners, executives, lenders, and investors.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA strongly preferred.
- CCFO-RE (Certified Chief Financial Officer – Real Estate) highly desirable.
- Advanced knowledge of:
o Yardi
o MRI Software
o RealPage
o ARGUS Enterprise
- Experience with multi-entity real estate ownership structures and property LLC accounting.
- Background working within family-owned businesses or entrepreneurial organizations preferred.
