Serving as a key member of the executive leadership team, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will lead all financial strategy, fiscal governance, and accounting operations across our multi-facility portfolio. This role requires an agile, hands-on executive who bridges high-level financial vision with active operational engagement—translating complex clinical and occupancy data into actionable growth strategies, optimized revenue cycles, and cost-containment initiatives. Rather than operating strictly from behind a desk, the CFO will work closely alongside operational leaders, facility administrators, and department heads to streamline workflows, optimize reimbursement models, and allocate capital efficiently. Whether guiding strategic expansions, overseeing rigorous compliance, or mentoring the corporate finance team, the CFO will serve as a vital catalyst for sustainable financial health and operational excellence across all communities.

Key Responsibilities

• Enterprise Financial Strategy & Forecasting: Direct overall financial planning, multi-year forecasting, capital allocation models, and annual budgeting processes across all operating facilities, ensuring fiscal strategies align directly with census targets, clinical quality initiatives, and organizational growth objectives.
• Operational Finance & Facility Partnership: Partner directly with facility administrators, regional operations directors, and clinical leadership to analyze facility-level P&Ls, labor metrics (including HPPD and overtime management), supply-chain expenditures, and clinical resource utilization, identifying efficiency gains that maintain the highest care standards.
• Reimbursement & Revenue Cycle Management (RCM): Provide strategic oversight of Medicare, Medicaid (including state-specific reimbursement mechanisms and rate structures), Managed Care, and private-pay revenue streams. Drive continuous improvements across billing, coding, collections, and denial management to accelerate cash flow and optimize net patient revenues.
• Accounting, Internal Controls & Audit Readiness: Supervise the corporate accounting functions—including monthly close, consolidations, balance sheet reconciliations, cash-flow management, and treasury. Maintain robust internal control environments and lead external audit preparation, tax filings, and regulatory financial reporting.
• M&A, Growth & Capital Structure: Develop sophisticated financial models and conduct rigorous due diligence to evaluate strategic growth opportunities, including facility acquisitions, real estate leases/purchases, joint ventures, and capital improvement projects.
• Lender, Investor & Banking Relations: Cultivate and manage productive relationships with commercial banks, lenders, auditors, and financial advisors to maintain lines of credit, ensure debt-covenant compliance, and secure advantageous capital structures to support ongoing expansion.
• Regulatory Compliance & Policy Adherence: Ensure strict adherence to federal, state, and local healthcare regulations, cost-reporting requirements, and statutory accounting principles, mitigating risk and adapting financial processes to changing healthcare policies.
• Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and elevate a high-performing finance and accounting team, championing professional development, cross-functional collaboration, and a culture of accountability and analytical rigor.

Qualifications

• Proven Executive Experience: 7+ years of progressive financial leadership, including experience as a CFO, VP of Finance, or Corporate Controller within multi-site skilled nursing facilities (SNF), post-acute healthcare systems, or senior living organizations.
• Healthcare Reimbursement Acuity: Deep expertise in Medicare (PDPM), state Medicaid programs, Managed Care contracting, and post-acute healthcare billing regulations.
• Hands-on Operational Mindset: Demonstrated track record of partnering with non-financial field operators to diagnose operational bottlenecks, manage labor metrics, and optimize multi-site facility performance.
• Strategic Modeling & Capital Allocation: Strong background in corporate finance, financial modeling, capital budgeting, debt financing, and transaction due diligence.
• Leadership & Executive Presence: Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the proven ability to present complex financial data clearly to executive teams, boards, and external lending partners.
• Education & Credentials: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline required; Master's in Business Administration (MBA), Master of Health Administration (MHA), and/or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license strongly preferred.

Location & Work Arrangement

• Location: Candidates based in Illinois or those willing to relocate are preferred. Full company-paid relocation assistance will be provided for candidates moving to the area.
• Remote Flexibility: For the right candidate with extensive post-acute and skilled nursing executive leadership experience, this role is open to a remote / hybrid arrangement with regular travel to regional corporate offices and operating facilities as needed.

Compensation & Benefits

• Base Salary: $250,000 – $350,000 annually, commensurate with industry depth and executive experience.
