CFO needed Federal & Government Construction Contracting | High Impact Leadership Role
Our client is seeking a
hands on, forward thinking Chief Financial Officer with
proven experience in contracting for federal and government construction. This is a high impact opportunity for a CFO who combines
exceptional finance & accounting expertise with a deeply
operational mindset to strengthen and scale a mid sized, mission driven private organization. You are hands on and 30-40% of this role is working with all the subsidiaries to win construction bids ensuring the bids make financial sense, risk assessment ongoing evaluation. You are a CFO that firmly believes Finance & Accounting is in partnership with operational success.
The ideal leader brings direct experience supporting
design and build, general contractor construction, and technical services organizationsspecifically those operating in
competitive federal contracting environments that include
cost plus, fixed price, and multi site project execution.
As CFO, you will partner closely with the CEO to elevate financial performance across a
multi LLC federal contracting structure, while leading a
remote Finance & Accounting team and driving operational excellence across multiple divisions, including a major construction and civil works group.
Location: Fully remote with travel to all business locations including Hawaii, Guam, and Alaska
Compensation Offered
Salary Range: $300,000 - $400,000 depending on experience

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a key member of the executive leadership team responsible for leading the organization's strategy, planning, reporting, risk management, and overall financial performance. Their Corporate headquarters is responsible for all investor relations, acquisitions, taxes, etc., therefore experience in these areas are
not needed for this role. The CFO will partner closely with executive leadership and subsidiary leaders to drive profitability, support business growth, optimize operations, and ensure strong financial governance across a complex portfolio of businesses.
This role requires a strategic yet hands-on finance executive with deep expertise in federal construction bid processes and government contracting environments. The ideal candidate will bring a proven ability in federal contracting, aligning financial strategy with operational objectives, improve business performance, lead high-performing teams, and support scalable growth in a dynamic, multi-entity organization.
You may be a Senior Controller currently looking for the next step in your career or a CFO looking to be responsible for a larger operation and be more involved in the business and the decision-making processes. You really enjoy the construction bidding environment for government and commercial opportunities for general contractors and the accounting/auditing thereof of processes surrounding this activity and positive outcomes.
Ideal Background- Executive financial reporting and accounting leadership experience within large, complex organizations.
- Strong background in federal construction bids for general contractors, government contracting, and regulated environments.
- Expertise in financial planning, risk management, compliance, and operational finance.
- Experience supporting multi-subsidiary organizations and geographically dispersed operations.
- Collaborative leadership style with exceptional business acumen, emotional intelligence, and communication skills.
- A strong understanding of the pace, complexity, and rigor of these contracts
- Advanced accounting/FP&A skills
- CPA is preferred but not required
- Experience in design-build, general construction, and technical services, including competitive bids, cost plus and fixed price structures, and multi site project execution
Location of the new CFO is flexible as it is a remote position with travel requirements
