    DESCRIPTION: Southeastern Regional is seeking a Chapter 74 Drafting Teacher (Computer Aided Drafting-CAD) as a component of our Massachusetts Content Strand classes. Preferred candidates will hold a Chapter 74 Drafting license or be qualified to obtain one by the end of the school year. Satisfactory CORI, Statewide Applicant Fingerprint Identification Services (SAFIS), and SORI required. Bilingual preferred.

    POSITION SUMMARY: What are the major responsibilities of this position?

    • Map each applicable grade's curriculum to the Massachusetts Drafting Frameworks, including, but not limited to;
    • Computer-Aided Drafting and Design
    • Mechanical Drafting and Design
    • Architectural Drafting and Design
    • Provide instruction following the Massachusetts Vocational-Technical Drafting Frameworks.
    • Enforce all OSHA safety regulations within the career education setting.
    • Instruct students in the lab, classroom, or field when participating in District-wide projects.
    • Document student performance, behavior, and achievement within the career education setting.
    • Provide review and reinforcement of new concepts, and support students in completing their assigned tasks.
    • Demonstrate knowledge of students' IEPs and the accommodations and modifications necessary for student success; modify assignments, tests, and quizzes in collaboration with special educators, if required.
    • Develop resources to support student success, including models, graphic organizers, class notes, video clips, and demonstrations.
    • Participate as a member of the career area department; collaborate with teachers within the department.
    • Collaborate with teachers in academic disciplines to facilitate cross-curricular, project-based learning activities.
    • Collaborate with the Vocational Supervisor/Cooperative Education Coordinator to suggest suitable student placements in their respective career areas.
    • Maintain documentation, including student performance, behavior, progress data, records of student absences/tardies, and notes from conversations with parents and administrators.
    • Provide content support outside of the general education classroom, as necessary.
    • Integrate technology into the curriculum.
    • Respond to any correspondence, both oral and written, that comes from a parent or guardian.
    • Participate in conferences and meetings when appropriate; contribute observations and ideas.
    • Attend Advisory Board meetings twice per year; attend Open House.
    • Attend parent/teacher night(s).
    • Be available to students for after-school support.
    • Stay current with changes in your career area and collaborate with Advisory Board members, if applicable.
    • Accept additional responsibilities as may be required under the direction of the Vocational Supervisor(s).

    SKILLS REQUIRED: What are the skills necessary for this position?

    • Experience safely using technology, software, tools, and equipment in the Drafting industry.
    • Strong organizational skills.
    • Strong communication skills.
    • Able to meet deadlines and carry out initiatives as assigned by your supervisor(s).
    • Strong technology skills.
    • Ability to be flexible with job assignments and performance responsibilities.
    • Willingness to teach all grade levels (9-12). There are components of this position that may require designs for live work around the building or visiting sites with our sending communities to complete designs for off-campus projects.

    QUALIFICATIONS: What are the qualifications necessary for this position?

    • Chapter 74, Preliminary Drafting Vocational Technical Teacher License
    • (or the ability to meet the licensure requirements)

    Preliminary Vocational Technical Teacher License

    • Associate's degree or higher degree related to the subject matter and skills to be taught
    • Four years of full-time employment experience directly related to drafting
    • Passing score on each test (written test and performance test) in drafting

    One of the following:

    • achieve a passing score on the Vocational Technical Literacy Skills Test
    • achieve a passing score on the Communication and Literacy Skills Test
