Join the Alaska Court System as a Chambers Judicial Assistant 2 (salary range 13) and play an essential role in supporting the work of the Superior Court in Utqiagvik. This position offers a unique opportunity to work closely with the Presiding Judge while helping ensure cases move efficiently through the court system.LocationThis position is based in Anchorage and expects periodic travel to Utqiagvik to provide in‑person support. Applicants located in Utqiagvik are invited to apply and, if selected, will work in‑person at the Sadie Brower Neakok Courthouse. Applicants based in Utqiagvik will receive an hourly rate of $46.32.ResponsibilitiesProvides direct administrative and case‑management support to the judge: prepares, organizes, and distributes judicial correspondence, orders, judgments, and other court documents; manages the judge's calendar, meetings, travel and appointments; serves as primary point of contact for telephone calls and visitors with professionalism and discretion; prepares and tracks required judicial reports including pay affidavits, leave reports, and pending decision listings. Serves as the case‑management clerk for all children's and probate cases, opens new cases, schedules hearings, processes pleadings and court orders, monitors case files for accuracy and timeliness, and maintains strict confidentiality. Assists with training law clerks on case‑management systems and motion tracking, provides technical support to judicial officers, and supports the Clerk of Court as assigned. This varied role combines judicial support, case management, and customer service in a collaborative court environment.Work Hours and Employment StatusFull‑time court employees work 37.5 hours per week. Hours for this position are Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a one‑hour lunch break. The position is partially‑exempt and the incumbent serves at‑will to the hiring authority.BenefitsCompetitive benefits package includes 12 paid holidays, medical, dental, and optional vision coverage, and employer‑paid life insurance. Personal leave is accrued for vacation, illness, or personal needs.QualificationsGraduation from high school or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate.Three years of progressively responsible, fully qualified work experience as an administrative assistant.Substitutions:Completion of an appropriate vocational training course of study such as legal secretary, paralegal, or office skills substitutes for one year of the required experience.A bachelor's degree substitutes for one year.Twelve months of general clerical work that demonstrates skills equal to those of a Court Case Manager 1 substitutes for one year.Work experience as a legal administrative assistant is preferred.EEO StatementThe Alaska Court System is an EEO employer and proudly promotes diversity.#J-18808-Ljbffr
