MCSO Chaplain
Salary Range: $51,1180-67,173.75

This is an hourly, non-exempt position. Pay rates are based on education, skill, and experience level.
Position Summary
A Chaplain is a spiritual leader who provides religious and emotional support to Mecklenburg County Sheriff''s Office (MCSO), and Mecklenburg County communities. They offer counsel, conduct religious services, perform rituals, facilitate programs within MCSO and provide comfort and guidance to those in need. Chaplains often work with people of different faiths and beliefs, promoting inclusivity and respecting diversity. To ensure the residents housed in the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office detention facilities have the opportunity to address the issues they face on a spiritual level that may have contributed to their criminal behavior and subsequent incarceration through Spiritual maintenance, Pastoral Care, and various religious studies. To provide spiritual care and encouragement of residents and to respond with compassion and support of all faiths in need of spiritual guidance or pastoral counseling during a time of personal crisis. They possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, and their role is to offer spiritual care and support to individuals and communities during challenging times.
Essential Functions
Process security clearances for all faith community religious leaders and individuals, and approve or disapprove, based on need, security, and the orderly operation of the facility.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in a related field, minimum three years in Prison and Detention ministry.
Currently ordained, duly accredited by, and in good standing with a nationally recognized denomination with direct experience in a correctional institution
Requires a valid North Carolina or South Carolina Driver''s License
Ministerial License
