We are seeking a Chaplain to join our team at Independent Living Systems (ILS). ILS, along with its affiliated health plans known as Florida Community Care and Florida Complete Care, is committed to promoting a higher quality of life and maximizing independence for all vulnerable populations.
The Chaplain plays an essential role in providing spiritual and emotional support to patients, their families, and healthcare staff within a healthcare setting. This position is dedicated to addressing the diverse spiritual needs and concerns that arise during times of illness, grief, and recovery, fostering holistic care. The Chaplain collaborates closely with medical teams to ensure that patient rights and dignity are respected while offering compassionate pastoral care and counseling. Through program development and volunteer management, the Chaplain enhances the availability and effectiveness of spiritual care services. Ultimately, this role contributes to the overall well-being and resilience of the healthcare community by promoting stewardship, empathy, and ethical decision-making.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Divinity, Theology or related field required
Ordination or certification as a Chaplain from an accredited religious or spiritual organization.
Experience in pastoral counseling, grief counseling, or psychotherapy within a healthcare or social assistance environment.
Demonstrated ability to make independent decisions and exercise sound judgment in sensitive situations.
Strong understanding of patient rights and healthcare ethics.
Must have knowledge of computer office/clinical software.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively support diverse populations.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree or Doctorate Degree in Divinity, Theology or related field required.
Certification in Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) or equivalent specialized training.
Experience in program development and volunteer management within a healthcare setting.
Background in psychotherapy or mental health counseling.
Familiarity with stewardship principles in healthcare or nonprofit organizations.
Multilingual abilities to serve diverse patient populations.
Responsibilities:
Provide individualized pastoral counseling and grief support to patients, families, and staff facing illness, loss, or crisis.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to integrate spiritual care into patient treatment plans and uphold patient rights.
Develop, implement, and oversee spiritual care programs and volunteer services to meet the evolving needs of the healthcare community.
Manage and train volunteers who assist in delivering spiritual and emotional support services within the facility.
Make independent decisions regarding the provision of pastoral care while maintaining professional and ethical standards.
