5 years pastoral ministry experience required
Endorsement by a recognized faith community and/or ordination by a recognized faith community
Those already hired without CPE must complete unit-based competency validations and mandatory trainings within 18 months of hire
Preferred Qualifications:
2 years' experience in hospital setting preferred
Bachelor's Degree preferred
Master's of Divinity from a seminary accredited by the Association of Theological Schools preferred or a similarly credentialed accrediting agency, or its equivalent as determined by the Association of Professional Chaplains
Clinical Pastoral Education (1 unit preferred)
The Chaplain responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Visits newly admitted patients and their families to offer support and spiritual assistance
Responds to all calls for chaplaincy services including crisis calls, requests for patients and families and referrals from hospital staff
Provides spiritual care and support to patients/families and staff as needed and/or requested
Collaborates and works cooperatively with physicians, nurse case managers and other members of the interdisciplinary health care team
Documents the spiritual care provided in the appropriate records
Reports to assigned Supervisor, Manager, or Director
