Chaplain

Position Summary: Responsible for providing spiritual and emotional support to patients, their families and staff on an on-call basis.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities as Assigned:

• Responds appropriately to spiritual requests/referrals from patient, family members and staff.
• Participates in an interdisciplinary approach to pastoral care and patient health.
• Provides spiritual support through listening, prayer and guidance in collaboration with staff and other primary caregivers.
• Participate in and provide educational programs for staff on ethical, spiritual and emotional issues.
• Develops and maintains a resource group of clergy within the community and healthcare system.
• Maintains records, reports and other documentation related to the work.
• Performs other related duties as required and directed.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Divinity, Theology or Religious/Pastoral Studies from a theological school or seminary required. Minimum of 1 CPE unit required.
• Extensive contact with patients, visitors, and co-workers.

Preferred:

• Mater's degree preferred.
• 3-5 years in healthcare preferred.
• Supervisory experience and computer skills preferred.
