Is a member of the clinical healthcare team providing clinical pastoral care, spiritual consultation, spiritual assessment, and emotional support to patients, families and hospital staff. Leads and participates in spiritual, worship and educational programs for hospital staff and the community. Serves as a liaison for area clergy and worshiping communities. Actively supports all department members and the director in scheduling and/or providing 24 hour on-call coverage to meet all accountabilities, and in promoting a sense of teamwork within the department.
Skills, Knowledge, Abilities: Required Education: Master’s degree of divinity, theology, religious studies, or counseling from an institution accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education. Four units of Clinical Pastoral Education or one year residency from an Association of Clinical Pastoral Education and/or College of Pastoral Supervision and Psychotherapy Training Center and/or equivalent training center. May consider Master’s degree in Social Work with extensive supplementary training in theology and/or religious studies. Equivalent training through academic or denominational avenues may be considered. May consider two units of Clinical Pastoral Education with willingness to continue education and other supporting experience. Preferred Education: One year residency in clinical pastoral education from an Association of Clinical Pastoral Education and/or College of Pastoral Supervision and Psychotherapy Training Center and/or equivalent training with a primary focus in hospital/trauma center ministry. Good standing with a professional chaplain’s association with documented evidence of continuing education, training and experience. Required License: Must have one of the following: Ordination or Vowed Religious or Endorsement from a recognized religious authority Preferred License: None Required Experience: One-year experience in healthcare chaplaincy in a hospital trauma center or equivalent experience. Evidence of active participation in a worshiping congregation. Preferred Experience: Three to five years of healthcare chaplaincy in a hospital trauma center or equivalent experience. Evidence of growing responsibility over several years in a worshiping/spiritual community
