Schedule: Mon-Fri 2pm-10pm. Overtime/Saturdays required as needed The Security Officer provides safety and security for designated property and personnel. This role is responsible for observing, reporting, and documenting routine and irregular activities, responding to emergencies, managing access control, and enforcing company policies and procedures.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Provide access control at vehicle and personnel entrances.
Challenge unauthorized personnel and process visitors, guests, and vendors.
Read and understand bills of lading; process deliveries and shipments.
Conduct visual machinery checks and operate access control gates.
Monitor CCTV and access control systems; perform basic troubleshooting.
Prevent unauthorized access and control movement of people and vehicles.
Conduct interior and exterior patrols to protect property and employees.
Respond to incidents including fire, medical emergencies, bomb threats, flooding, hazardous materials, and inclement weather.
Maintain effective communication during routine operations and emergencies.
Monitor and administer security devices (e.g., badging systems, CCTV).
Protect evidence or incident scenes; set up barriers and provide direction.
Prepare logs and reports; inspect security control logs and act as needed.
Observe and report suspicious activity to appropriate authorities.
Provide investigative support and handle confidential information.
Monitor and verify property removal from the facility.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Ability to maintain vigilance and situational awareness at all times.
Strong multitasking skills, including simultaneous monitoring and communication.
Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication.
Ability to read and comprehend regulations and procedures.
Proficiency in using security systems (CCTV, access control, radios, etc.).
Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations.
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or GED required.
Preferred:
Two (2) years of physical security experience, or
Six (6) months of security experience in a manufacturing environment, or
One (1) year in law enforcement or the armed forces.
Education may supplement experience:
Twelve (12) college credits in relevant fields (Security, Law Enforcement, IT, Psychology, etc.) = six (6) months of experience.
Working Conditions:
Shift-based role, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Indoor and outdoor work environments with potential exposure to weather and industrial conditions.
Must be able to wear PPE and remain on foot for extended periods.
May require lifting, bending, and responding to physical incidents.
