Overview
Barnes-Jewish Hospital at Washington University Medical Center is the largest hospital in Missouri and is ranked as one of the nation's top hospitals by U.S. News & World Report. The security division of the Barnes-Jewish Hospital Department of Public Safety concentrates on the safety and security of patients, visitors, and staff within the hospital and on campus. The department provides field officers, Bike and mobile patrol, investigators, and a communication unit for monitoring alarm systems and dispatching officers to service and emergency calls. All officers are required to complete annual training that focuses on health care security.

Role Purpose
This position is responsible for assisting the training staff and management in the administration of training courses offered by the Department of Public Safety. It prepares for programs, schedules rooms and instructors, and performs Global Training Records administration duties. This position is responsible for providing front line management support to training staff and officers being trained. These responsibilities include the mentoring and coaching of both instructors and new hire officers assigned to the Department of Public Safety training team. Conducts both initial and re-certification training for officers within the department, also conducts training for newly promoted instructors/mentors. In emergency situations this position will respond and help mitigate the incident.
Responsibilities
Individuals must be 21 years or older to work in this position.Supports the delivery of educational courses and training materials designed for the Department of Public Safety. Maintains computerized training records for all training conducted. Audits and orders supplies and other material required to conduct all training courses. The creation of support material for in-service training conducted by shift management teams.Develops schedules, reviews and approved lesson plans for training provided by the Department of Public Safety; orientation, continuing education, mandatory training, policy and procedure and technology upgrades.Ensures that all Department of Public Safety officer attend required annual and semi-annual training needed to maintain mandated certification. Provides required support documentation to proper authorities for the St. Louis City / County police Department Watchmen's - Private Security Section licensing process.Coordinates training and technical assistance with target audiences, internal resources, and external vendors. Collaborates with leadership and other staff to assess the educational needs of staff and develops appropriate education plansDevelops training for other hospital departments in order to promote a safe work environment. Maintains training records for all training conducted by Public Safety training staff.
