A growing private healthcare practice is seeking an experienced
Charge Entry Specialist to join its Revenue Cycle Management team. This is a great opportunity for a detail-oriented medical billing professional with hands-on experience in
charge entry, claims processing, coding review, and claim submission.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a high-volume environment, catching billing discrepancies before claims are submitted, and working closely with billing, coding, verification, authorization, and clinical teams to keep the revenue cycle moving efficiently.
What You'll Do
- Enter charges for office visits, injections, surgical services, and other procedures based on coding and supporting documentation
- Verify patient demographics, insurance information, date of service, rendering provider, and place of service
- Review CPT, ICD-10-CM, modifiers, units, laterality, and diagnosis pointers for accuracy
- Verify that authorizations correspond with the services being billed
- Identify missing information, duplicate charges, coding discrepancies, and potential billing errors before claim submission
- Prepare and submit electronic and paper claims according to payer requirements
- Review clearinghouse and payer rejections, correct errors, and resubmit claims promptly
- Confirm claim acceptance and identify claims requiring additional billing follow-up
- Prepare corrected claims when necessary and accurately document changes
- Maintain charge-entry logs and surgical billing trackers
- Document billing activity, outstanding issues, and follow-up needs in the medical billing system
- Work with providers, coders, verification, and authorization teams to resolve discrepancies
- Communicate delays, missing documentation, and system issues that could impact timely billing
What We're Looking For
- 2+ years of medical charge entry and claims-processing experience
- Strong working knowledge of CPT, ICD-10-CM, modifiers, units, diagnosis pointers, and place-of-service codes
- Experience with electronic claims, clearinghouse edits, claim rejections, and corrected claims
- Strong attention to detail and accurate data-entry skills
- Ability to manage a high volume of charges while maintaining accuracy
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Experience working with EMR/EHR and medical billing systems
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
Preferred Experience
- ModMed experience
- Trizetto experience
- Orthopedic, spine, surgical, or injection billing
- Commercial insurance, PIP, workers' compensation, or out-of-network billing
- Medical billing or coding certification
