Requirements
- RN Registered Nurse License
- BSN or BS Healthcare related field or CEN within 7 months of hire
- Promotion: 2 years of registered nurse ER experience
- BLS certification with the American Red Cross or American Heart Association
- ACLS certification with the American Heart Association
- PALS certification with the American Heart Association
The Registered Nurse - Responsibilities and Skills
- Works in a hospital setting and independently cares for a group of patients consistently using the nursing process and clinical standards.
- Delegates appropriate patient care activities to other members of the health care team.
- Organizes and prioritizes and updates plan of care in collaboration with patients, family, and significant others.
- Identifies patients at risk for injury regarding diagnosis, medication, procedure, age, etc., and prepares room environment.
- Monitor record and update care team on patient vitals and assessments.
- Identifying sudden or subtle changes in a patients medical condition.
- Responding to medical emergencies for critical patients.
- High emotional intelligence to create a positive patient care experience that includes simplifying medical terminology and concepts to the patient.
