Hackensack Meridian Pascack Valley Medical Center is a 128-bed, full-service, acute-care community hospital with a new emergency department, a state-of-the-art maternity center, a women's imaging center, and an ICU.
Responsibilities:
The NICU Charge Nurse serves as the clinical and operational leader for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit during the assigned shift, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, family-centered care to critically ill and high-risk newborns.
This role provides direct oversight of daily patient care operations, staff coordination, resource allocation, patient flow, and clinical decision-making while serving as the primary clinical resource for the interdisciplinary team.
The Charge Nurse partners with the Nurse Manager/ Director of Women's Services, neonatologists, obstetric providers, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and ancillary departments to promote evidence-based practice, regulatory compliance, quality outcomes, and exceptional patient experiences. Responsibilities include coordinating admissions, transfers, and discharges; responding to neonatal emergencies and high-risk deliveries; mentoring and coaching nursing staff; ensuring appropriate staffing and productivity; supporting performance improvement initiatives; and fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, patient safety, and continuous professional development.

Qualifications:
Job Requirements:
Must possess a Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university, or be a graduate of an approved RN program
Minimum of 3 years of experience
New Jersey Professional Registered Nurse
NRP Instructor Certification
STABLE Certification
BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care
Preferred Job Requirements:
BSN
STABLE Support Instructor
Rate of pay is determined based on experience and education and may include other pay components such as differentials and call pay based on role.
